It is not wrong that the whole world is troubled by mosquitoes. Every year millions of people in the world fall prey to mosquito-borne diseases. A special effort is being made in America to treat mosquitoes.

For this, the US Environmental Protection Agency has allowed the release of billions of special types of mosquitoes on a large scale. These mosquitoes belong to the species Aedes aegypti which spread diseases like Zika, Yellow Fever and Dengue. These genetically modified mosquitoes have been developed by the American company Oxitec.

Oxitec has been granted permission to release 2.4 billion mosquitoes in California and Florida. The Aedes aegypti mosquito is a non-biting male mosquito that can produce similar mosquitoes. According to the company, the plan is to stop the spread of the disease, Aedes aegypti.

It is important to note that mosquito-borne diseases are spread through the bites of female mosquitoes. This experiment will kill the female mosquitoes while the male mosquitoes will breed which will reduce the mosquito population. Mosquitoes do not spread disease in California. This attacking moth has been placed in the category of increasing risk in the state.

The company says that in view of the increasing dangers caused by mosquitoes in America, work was done on such technology which is also easily available and easy to access. In this pilot program, the company has demonstrated the effectiveness of the technology in different climatic conditions, in such a way that it is able to do its job.

These mosquitoes will have genetic markers so that they will be able to easily identify them in the mosquito population itself. The company says that this experiment is an extension of a pilot experiment that was approved by the EPA in the year 2020.

In 2021 itself, Oxyten released 144 thousand genetically modified mosquitoes in the areas of Florida. He was then released to Brazil, whose 31-week cloud technology overtook Aedes aegypti by 95 percent.
